What APIs does Figma support for their marketplace?

Hi @PyvesB,

As far as I can tell, Figma does not provide an officially documented Marketplace API for Community plugin metrics such as user count or version.

However, I found that the Community website itself uses an internal endpoint:

GET https://www.figma.com/api/resources/plugins/<plugin-id>

For example:

This endpoint appears to be unofficial and is protected by AWS WAF. It can sometimes be accessed directly, but repeated requests may trigger rate limiting or bot protection.

Another option would be to extract the information from the public Community page itself:

https://www.figma.com/community/plugin/<plugin-id>

There are also Chrome extensions that display plugin statistics even though no official Marketplace API exists, so they seem to retrieve the data from the Community site as well.

What kind of data source would be acceptable for Shields in a case like this? Would an undocumented endpoint or data extracted from a public Community page be considered acceptable?

I wrote a little bit about this in #11870, but essentially we wouldn't want to scrap the community webpage or rely on an undocumented internal API.

That makes sense. I wasn't able to find any officially documented API for Community plugin metrics either.

Just to confirm, if Figma were to provide an official API for plugin metadata (such as version, users, likes, etc.) in the future, would this be something that Shields would consider supporting?

Yes, Figma is a tool used by developers, if there were an official public API, a new badge to integrate it with Shields.io would be welcome!
